If you are a website owner then you will want people to visit your site, there is no point having one if nobody comes to visit. This is no difference to a shop, having a shop without customers is pointless. A shop is all about location, the better the location the better the foot fall and the more potential customers that will walk through the door.

The Internet is not so different, you have got to post your presence in as many locations as possible to get those web users through your site door. Now to get a high ranking on the search engines is going to be the best location to be spotted, especially the top ones like the Big G, being on the front page, the higher up the page the better (number one spot being the best) of Google for your keywords is where all the action is and where there is most chance of people finding you, however you cannot rely on getting there without some effort.

This is where website promotion comes in, it is a big part of this job, especially in the beginning, of course if you get as big as the likes of Yaro Starak or John Chow then your days of constantly promoting, promoting and promoting will slow from a sprint to a leisurely walk. That said promotion is still important for these guys, after all they worked hard to get to the top and I imagine that they want to stay there.

So you have to work this part of your business hard, something that I didn’t realise was so important in the beginning, I might as well have been a boarded up shop, because everyone was just walking by without a second glance. I soon got the message though and I increased my promotion quick sharp. Now there are many methods that you can use to promote your site, I find one of the best to be Article marketing. In my opinion one of the best article directories is Ezine Articles, you can take a look at one of my Articles here to get an idea and feel to article writing. They can be a bit frustrating at times as they can take quite a while to approve and publish your articles live. The longest I have waited is just over two weeks, but they are worth sticking with as most of my articles on there have had a good response. Once you have proved yourself as someone who sticks to the editorial rules and you write good helpful content then you will eventually get upgraded as an author and things then speed up.

To get round the wait is to write articles regular, then you will always be having articles published once you get rolling, all the directories I write for have to approve your work before it goes live. I am going to be adding a new page to this site in the near future that you can access just below the header, I will probably label it something like Useful Tools and it is going to contain links to other sites such as Article Directories, so I will list as many as possible to make it easy for you to find them all.

Other ways of getting articles out there is to use an Article Spinner and the basics of what happens is that you can write one article and it will get turned into hundreds and then distributed around the Net. I go into this in more detail in The Wizard Post.

Always remember though that website promotion is key to success in Getting Noticed online among other things of course, some have a big impact and some a small one.
