Lost Sites
Lost In The Universe
What a tough couple of days I have had, my whole online business went on hold as I fought to get back two lost sites. Not have they only been tough days, but they have been long ones too. I have had to put all my efforts into rebuilding all the information that was lost into the universe some where…
This Is How The Story Goes
Back at the beginning of my online career, I obviously signed up to a hosting company as I was going to be building a website, at the time I thought it would only be one that I would build. Anyway I signed up to a hosting company and built my first siteĀ and not long after I joined The Niche Blogger, I started to build a new site.
The second site was also put with the same hosting company, but after a while I started having a few problems with my hosts, I won’t go into details, but there were a few things that were not going as planned.
Recommended Host
Amy of The Niche Blogger recommends Hostgator in her program and as I was about to build my next site, I decided to sign up with them and add all my sites from that moment on with them. It turned out to be a good move and things have run smooth since the day I joined, so no problems there.
I know this is the host that I recommend here on this blog and now you may realise why I do, because believe me when the hosting company is not playing ball, your online life can be full of glitches and we don’t need that when we want to be concentrating on making money.
The Big Step
Since I started with Hostgator, I have been promising myself that I would move my first two sites over to them as soon as possible. Well a couple of days ago I plucked up the courage to make this happen. The host gave the impression it would be an easy process.
So with their instructions I backed up the sites and moved the domain names and the files over to Hostgator. As you can probably imagine from the title, it did not go as planned. I pretty much lost everything and I was not a happy bunny.
At first I even thought of forgetting about the sites, but they are making me some money and I had about 50 web pages pointing to them and I have also been selling my own products from them, which meant that my products in Clickbank that were only connected to those sites would be redundant and I would be letting down my affiliate members that had signed up to those sites and were selling my products.
I Bit The Bullet
So I made the decision to put all else aside and rebuild mt sites until they were back to their former glory. Luckily for me I had kept most of my content from those sites on file, so once I had re-instated the themes and settings, it was a processĀ of uploading all the content that had gone missing.
Anyway it took me two whole days and they were very long days. But they are all back together now and it is business as usual, so I am once again happy.
The Moral Of The Story
So the moral of the story is make sure you get a good hosting company before you put any domains with them, it is not nice when you lose all the hard work you have done and through no fault of your own.
So my recommendation is Hostgator, but there are many that I know that rave about BlueHost, I cannot vouch for them myself, but the people I know that use them have no reason to tell me lies.
I am know all back together and can get on with my business, which is a great feeling and it is good to have those two websites where I know they will be safe.
