A Strange Question

I was asked recently is adsense real by someone just starting out at blogging, I thought at the time that this was kind of a strange question to ask as it is a well known money making application from the mighty Google and the answer was a simple yes, but I did want to find out why someone would ask this question.

To cut a long story short, this person was just setting up their blog and they applied for a google adsense account, but got turned down and was a bit upset by this and wanted some advice for how to get around it as they thought without it they would not earn any money.

My Explanation Of Adsense

First off do not rely on or look at adsense as a great way to earn money online, especially when you are starting out, now don’t get me wrong you can earn very good money with adsense, but you probably will not earn much to begin with as you need plenty of traffic to get a substantial amount of adsense clicks.

Make sure before you apply for an adsense account that you have your blog set up and have at least 5 blog posts added and a privacy page. Well it turns out that this person had applied for an account before even writing any blog posts at all and when google checked out the site and did not find any content they assumed it was under construction and they will not put there ad units on a site that is under construction.

My Advice

Wait a while and concentrate on adding some content and the re-apply or you can get an account a different way. I have often heard of people applying for an adsense account and waiting a long time for a reply. So here is a way that you can try and get your account, what you might call a short cut.

Here is what you do….  Nip over to Blogger.com (which is a Google product) and create a free blog. Once you have gone through the steps of creating the free blog you can then add a gadget, which I think, if I remember right, is by clicking on the the layout tab and then page elements and one of the gadgets is adsense.

Now you are setting up a free google blog and they are offering adsense to you and once you have added the gadget, you can then use your publisher ID number on your own blogs. So there is no applying and waiting weeks or getting turned down.
