Did It Work

The Experiment

Experiment

Remember the post I wrote about a little experiment I was trying out, I called it A Simple Blog Experiment and it was about traffic and getting more of it to my site. It was based on writing more content and delivering it more frequently, well did it work?

I decided to try posting more content due to another person that was blogging and having great results with it, he was posting around twice per day on his few blogs and getting a considerable amount of traffic. I started posting around once per day on this blog as well as another blog and must admit that I found it difficult to keep this up and stay committed to all my other online projects.

I kept this up for several weeks and have seen a good increase in my traffic to this site and the other one I was trying it out on, but I cannot continue to keep this pace up, so my writing is dropping down slightly to catch up and get back on track with my other projects, I will still try to post as often as possible, but decided that the extra traffic did not make enough of a difference to neglect my other projects.

One Blog

This brings me to a question, what is better, to have many niche sites or concentrate on one main blog and keep pumping out good content everyday or even twice or three times a day. I have enjoyed writing more content for this site and would love to concentrate on it more, but I also like the variety of working on different subjects.

If I put all my efforts into one site, would I earn more money, well that is a possibility, but I don’t think I would have learned as much about Internet marketing if I had just stuck to one blog and it is because of the amount I have learned over the last year or so, that has given me the opportunity to spot and take advantage of more and more income streams.

My Advice

Based on my experiment, what would I recommend to others, stick with and concentrate on one site or build multiple sites. This is something that I cannot answer for everyone, I enjoy multiple sites, but I can see some of the advantages of concentrating on just one site.

It has to be down to personal choice, a possible answer is to build a site and concentrate on it for a fixed period of time, say six months and then may be look at other projects. I will say that the more projects that you get involved with online, the busier your life can become and it is easy to stretch yourself a little to thin, but if you are like me and love this online stuff, it will not bother you to much.
