If you are blogging away every day and your content is growing and your blog is getting fatter, then you really need to think about something important, that is if you have not already. It is an easy thing to forget about securing your blog and making sure you are covered if anything should happen, which it easily can when working online and with computers in general.

Backup WordPress Blog

There is a real need to protect the work you have completed on your blog, it is not a great feeling to lose all your hard work. This becomes even more important when you have more than one site that you are working on. So if you have not already then you need to think about making a backup for your blog to protect the work you have done.

I have been using for some time now a plugin called Secure WordPress, which is very easy to use and actually emails your backups straight to your inbox for safe keeping. This is a plugin that I was introduced to by The NicheBlogger as part of the training and once you have installed it on your blog you can pretty much forget about it, your only reminder is the emails you receive with your backup files.

Blog Backup Online

I was recently browsing John Chows Blog and he was talking about the same subject, which is what prompted me to write this post. He writes about a different plugin called Automatic WordPress Backup, which stores the complete data on Amazon s3 storage service. You do have to pay for the storage service, but it is absolute pennies for the peace of mind it provides.

Amazon S3 Backup

This is a plugin that I am going to take a closer look at, as it does seem to back up more information such as themes, pictures and settings, which can be lost with other back up plugins. The Amazon s3 service sounds like a great service to and very cheap.

WordPress Plugins

If you want to check out the different types of back up plugins available, then go to the plugins tab in your WordPress admin area and click on add new, then type in Secure WordPress or Automatic WordPress back up and then click search and there we be a list appear that you can then look through to find the back up plugin that suits your needs best.

Just remember it is important to have some kind of back up system in place to protect your blog and all the hard work that you have put into it. Peace of mind is better than going out of your mind if your blog disappears.
